We started out our week with "Dog Day", which was so much fun! As a grade, we had our morning meeting, and our yoga pose was downward dog! We reviewed our math skills with some "Dog Math". Then we enjoyed our themed snacks, while reading an article about dog parks. We debated the need for dog parks in a community (Did you see our twitter video?). We played charades with Mrs. Williams' class and then watched a dog themed movie. We all LOVED having stuffed dogs on our desks. What a fun day!

Preparing for our debate |
During math, we have been extending our understanding of fractions with addition and subtraction of fractions with like denominators. The students are feeling confident with this topic.
Mrs. Richards joined us for more word study practice, and she was particularly interested with how this group sorted their words. Do you see how they sorted?
On Thursday we reflected on our reading progress, and noted something we were proud of, as well as set a goal for our reading. Check with your child about his/her goal!
Our travels around the United States have taken us to Washington, D.C. We learned about various monuments and memorials, and will be doing research projects in the next few weeks. If you did not see the Washington, D.C. project papers, please check in with your child. We will begin our formal research on Monday.
We wrapped up our week learning a little about Chinese New Year. 2017 is the year of the fire rooster. We made Chinese paper lanterns to celebrate!
Looks like another busy and productive week in 4th. Thanks Kate for all these great updates, I really love seeing the pictures - helps me understand how he spends his day since I get not much more than "Good" or "Fine" when I ask! Enjoy your weekend.
