Our Week In Review

The week before vacation is always filled with excitement! We had a busy week filled with learning.

In math, we began seeing the connection between fractions and decimals. This concept is new, and may take some time for the children to understand completely.  We connected the new learning to their knowledge of money, which helped decimals make sense for many students.

During reading, we continued to follow the adventures of the children from Snow Treasure.  This book, published in 1942, has been a favorite of many of the students, proving that some books are just classics!  The children are working hard to think deeply about the characters, and to connect this thinking to their lives.

We are almost finished with our dog essays!  Revisions and editing will happen after vacation, and these will be published.  The children have worked really hard on these, and they are able to share them with you by logging into Google Classroom.

We wrapped up our learning about plant and animal structures and adaptations.  The children did a great job with this, and enjoyed our hands on learning.  When we return from vacation, we will focus on learning about Washington, D.C. in Social Studies.

The children enjoyed their party in a bag and handing out Valentines to each other. We enjoyed Valentine Fraction Math as well!  Check out our students in their Valentine themed clothing, too!

During technology workshop, we have been sharing our thinking using flipgrid.  Ask your child to share their flipgrid with you!

The children shared their thoughts about a few things this week.  See their responses below!
