Our Week In Review

The short week and the snow caused a lot of excitement in room 24!  Many of the students "high" of the week was the 2 hour delay!  Despite the shorter week, we did a LOT of learning this week.

Students continue to give Book Talks to share the books they love! Please continue to encourage your child to do this!

We began our next interactive read aloud, Little Dog Lost, by Marion Dane Bauer, and the students are enjoying it.  We are focusing on author's craft and character perspective.  These skills will help us as we write stories throughout the year.  Check out some of the students' illustrations of a main character and setting from the story yesterday, along with some comments from their classmates.

We have been working on hands on science lessons to explore Earth Science.  We have learned about rocks and about volcanoes, including lava and the Ring of Fire. I will be tweeting about these experiences throughout this unit.

Thank you to this FHS teacher and JFK 4th grade parent!  She came to teach us about Frida Khalo and her animalitos!  What a wonderful extension of our Mexico unit.

Next week is a short week! Students will take a unit test on Multiplication.  A study guide was sent home earlier this week, and there are some videos on our blog to help review the different steps of our learning.  Students will also give their first speech of the year.  Please encourage them to practice saying this speech before Tuesday.  The grading criteria is listed on the back of the speech.
