On Thursday, Erin Lynch from the Franklin Food Pantry came to JFK to talk to us about this community resource. We learned so much about working together to help one another. This topic relates directly to our next interactive read aloud, The Family Under the Bridge by Natalie Savage Carlson. It is a story about a homeless family living on the streets of Paris.

Our Week In Review
After the long weekend, it was a little hard to get back to work, but we all did a great job! We were happy to have Sarah back to school, and we enjoyed listening to her speech.
In reading, we have been working our way through Mr. Popper's Penguins. We are really enjoying this funny story. Many of the children have seen the movie, starring Jim Carey, and almost all agree that the book is MUCH better! We have one more chapter to go, and we've made some interesting predictions. Four of our students believe that Mr. Popper will let his penguins star in a movie and make a LOT of money. Seventeen of us believe that he'll send his penguins to the North Pole with Admiral Drake to start a new breed of penguins. We will all find out on Monday. We'll celebrate the end of the book with a special "Black and White" Day on Wednesday. Look for a note about this in your child's backpack. On Thursday, Erin Lynch from the Franklin Food Pantry came to JFK to talk to us about this community resource. Our food drive will take place next week, and the Food Pantry will pick up our donations next Friday morning. A letter went home last week with more details regarding thisl
In social Studies, we began learning about Canada. We created our own Canadian Flag, and have started to look at some geography of Canada. We will work on this topic for the next few weeks.
