Our Week In Review

Whew!  What a week we have had.  Even though it is the last few weeks of school, we haven't slowed down one bit!  Our week started with the Ladybug Celebration on Monday.  We all enjoyed singing and hearing the presentations from our friends in other grades.  Everyone was able to take home a book "The Ladybug Story".

On Tuesday, we were SO successful with our Poetry Coffeehouse.  You can find the posts of videos and pictures in blog posts from this week. Thank you to everyone who sent pictures.

On Wednesday we were lucky enough to have another immigration speaker.  Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. Peng, Charlene's parents (and her brother Adam)!  Today they came to school to share their immigration story with our fourth graders.  It was so interesting to learn about how they moved to Seattle from Taiwan, and then moved to the east coast for work!  Mr. Peng told us that he loved the food in Taiwan when he was young, and that he loved the weather here when he moved to Seattle.  Mr. Peng became a U.S. citizen this fall.  Congratulations to him!  Here is the letter  he received from the President of the U.S. after becoming a citizen.

Of course, Thursday was SPORTS DAY! Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. O'Connor (Sarah's parents) for organizing this event this year.  We had a blast! Check out our post of pictures from Thursday.

We also wrapped up our Electricity unit this week, and took our test on Thursday,. Here we are building circuits.

On Friday, we were lucky enough to have Mrs. Adams' husband, Mr. Adams come to school.  He reminded us about the engineering process and the necessary steps to engineer something.  Then we were given the task to create a "hands-free" flashlight.  Students worked in groups to create the flashlight, created a poster and a name, and then we shared our final products after lunch.

Next week will be a very busy week!  Remember...Amazing Race is on Tuesday!
