We got a lot done in 4 days! What a week!  We began our week reviewing for our math test.  The students worked very hard on the concepts of fractions and decimals, and their hard work paid off! Our test was a success, and everyone had the opportunity to show what they have learned. Students brought home a paper version of the assessment, and can also view the assessment in their Pearson Realize accounts.  Students who are still working to master concepts from this unit can also use Pearson to review.  After submitting their test, there are mini assignments assigned to allow students to practice concepts that haven't been mastered.  Please encourage your child to log in and try some of these assignments.   Moving forward, we will begin our next unit, Measurement, on Wednesday.

We have been enjoying reading myths during reading, and have enjoyed comparing our myths to those in other books, and to the Mythic Warrior videos.  We have also worked to make connections between heroes in fiction stories, heroes in myths and heroes in real life.  We have read some articles about heroes and are working on organizing thinking from these articles.  Students will practice their speaking skills next week by performing a few plays based on myths.

We have continued to learn about the midwest by studying the geography of the Midwest.  During science, we explored different types of mouths of insects, and tried to "eat" as insects.

Pi Day was a huge success! We worked as a grade to run 3.14 miles, and completed this challenge in under 20 minutes!  We also had some creative circle snacks!

Students gave their March speeches, and they were very creative!  Speaking in front of a group of peers is not easy, but the children have grown in this area!

Creative Arts Friday was AWESOME this week! We had the opportunity to perform our Raps in Poetry Workshop!  We finished research, and began our projects about a National Park in PBL, and we started to rerecord our videos to reduce the background noise during Technology Workshop. Students also brainstormed ideas for their next video project. This project will be more open ended and student driven.  Talk to your child about this project.  You may have some suggestions!

We wrapped up our week with St. Patrick's Day, and enjoyed Dance Party Friday!

Way to Go! Good News!
