The last two weeks have been FULL of learning and fun end of year events here in room 24. We wrapped up our last Interactive Read Aloud, Charlotte's Web, and (as predicted) Mrs. Merten cried. In keeping with Mrs. Merten's motto, "learning until the last minute", we will continue to explore electricity in science, and the southwest region in social studies. Next week we will wrap up our US Unit with the Amazing Race! Stay tuned for pictures and information.
By now, you have seen the amazing orange t-shirts that we made on Tie Dye Tuesday! Many thanks to the parents who volunteered for this event. Students should plan on wearing their shirts on Sports Day next week.
We enjoyed a final, whole school meeting, run by the 5th grade students. We wish them well as they move onto middle school.
After learning about the West Region of the United States, we created posters illustrating our learning. Then we did a "gallery walk" and made notes about what we learned. Finally, we played a Kahoot to show our learning!
Our school hit our Reading Fever goal, and we participated in a whole school reading "camp out". We got to read with our second grade friends.
Once again, we were joined by Mrs. Silvia of the Haffenreffer Museum at Brown University. We learned about the Hopi tribe of the Southwest Region of the United States. Thank you to JFK's PCC for funding this awesome program.

Mrs. Merten, Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Greene, along with some Kennedy Kids, had the awesome experience of meeting
Jarrett Krosoczka, author of the Lunch Lady series (among others). He was an inspiration!
Our Chorus/Recorder Concert this week was amazing. Everyone did a great job!
Finally, we enjoyed a wonderful Poetry Coffeehouse!
