Happy Diwali!

Today we were treated to a presentation by one of our classmates!  She (along with her mom) introduced the Indian holiday of Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights.  We learned that in India, there are fireworks celebrations, and families and friends gather to celebrate.  People get dressed up and eat delicious foods!  They light candles and sparklers in their yards.  We made diyas and hung them in our classroom, and we received a bag with an electric tea light!  What a wonderful way to celebrate our differences!  Thank you to our class member for sharing her culture, and to her mom, also, for coming in and sharing information about this holiday.
