Our Week In Review

Though our week was short, we got a lot accomplished! We have continued to learn about multiplication in math.  We will be finishing our new learning on Monday, and will be reviewing this concept on Tuesday, in preparation for our assessment on Wednesday.  Your child received a study guide yesterday, and can review the lessons in this unit using the Pearson Realize website. In class, we reviewed different ways to prepare using the Pearson site, and also discussed the importance of practicing math facts.

During Social Studies, we are almost finished with our Maps and Globes unit.  We will practice using latitude and longitude next week, and our first SS assessment will be the following Tuesday (10/24).  Students will receive a study guide next week, and we will learn how to make a set of "virtual" flash cards using Quizlet.  Students will be encouraged to bring home their Maps and Globes folder next week, and will be allowed to sign out a text if they would like to use one for studying purposes.  Everything needed to prepare for the tests can be found on the study guide.   Studying a little every night will make the test preparation feel less overwhelming.  Please feel free to check in with Mrs. Merten if you have any questions.

Our Puff Mobile Race was a HUGE success! The students learned the value of teamwork and perseverance!  They worked hard at using the Engineering and Design process to create vehicles, and everyone enjoyed our race day!  A puff mobile from our class won the overall race!  Can you guess which vehicle moved quickly using wind power?

During writing we have been working on planning and writing personal narratives. These are small moment stories, which share something about the writer.  Students have been drafting, and discussing their work with a writing buddy. Ask your child about his/her writing topic!

• We have our next math assessment (topic 1) on Wednesday, 10/18.
• We have our first social studies assessment Maps/Globes Assessment on Tuesday 10/24.
