Our Week In Review

Though our week seemed short, we have been working really hard!  On Tuesday we were treated to another presentation by the Haffenreffer Museum at Brown University. Mrs. Silvia came and talked with us about the Native Americans who lived in the Arctic region.  We learned so much about their homes, food, clothing and entertainment! We were able to touch artifacts and wear real clothing from that region. We are grateful to our Kennedy PCC for funding this amazing opportunity.

Book Talks continue to be a wonderful way to celebrate our reading!

Our weather stations sustained a bit of damage with the stormy weather this week.  We are busily collecting data about their effectiveness.

Way to go - Dancers of the Day!

Looking Ahead
  • We will continue learning strategies for division, and will have our assessment on Thursday.
  • We will begin our study of Canada!
  • We will wrap up our Interactive Read Aloud, Little Dog, Lost.
  • We will continue to work on writing our fiction stories.

From the Teacher's Desk

Thank you for coming to JFK to meet with me this week!  I enjoyed talking with you about your child's successes and sharing his/her work with you.  I am grateful for your continued partnership, and the open communication we have.  This is the best way to ensure all children's success!

HOMEWORK REMINDER:  If your child has been productively working on his/her math homework for 20 minutes, and is unable to complete the assignment, please sign the top corner of the math HW.  This communicates that your child has put effort into his/her assignment, but something has been challenging.  In these instances, Mrs. Merten will check in with your child quickly, knowing that there were challenges.  Of course, always email Mrs. Merten with any questions/concerns about specifics.
