Our Week In Review

What's Happening in Room 24

This week we were treated to a visit from our "Anthropologist in Residence" Mrs. Silvia from the Haffenreffer Museum.  Students learned about homes, clothing and culture of the Inuits.  What a great way to kick off our study of Canada!  Thank you PCC!

We have been practicing, practicing, practicing our division process! Students are improving every day, and the process of division using the Partial Quotients algorithm is becoming easier for the students.  This method of division is different from how many parents learned how to divide.  Please use our blog as a resource!  Our division assessment is scheduled for Thursday.  A study guide was sent home on Friday.  One way to prepare for this test is to practice, practice, practice your multiplication facts!

What an awesome experience we had this week participating in a webinar with author Jaqueline Woodson.  She shared her book The Day You Arrive, and answered questions from the many schools watching her.  Thank you to Mrs. A. Williams for setting this up!!

We finished our fiction stories, and shared them with our classmates in a gallery walk.  Ask your child to share his/her story with  you!  You will definitely enjoy!

Twinning in our matching glasses!
We began our next writing project on Friday. We read the book Claymates, by Dev Petty and Lauren Eldridge.  Using Model Magic we created a new character for this book. Mrs. Richards will be our guest instructor on Monday, when we will discuss the "next chapter" of this book, and telling this book from a different point of view. We are looking forward to this writing project.
