Our Week In Review

This week we continued reading Snow Treasure, and the children have really been enjoying this adventure story. We are focusing on writing summaries, cause and effect, and making connections with characters. Ask your child about the flipgrid assignment about the characters in this book. Your child may be able to share a video with you.  Book talks continue to be an important part of our Reader's Workshop time.  Please encourage your child to volunteer to do this.  It is a great opportunity to share a favorite book and to practice speaking in front of a group.

During science this week, we continued to discuss animal adaptations/structures, and students created a "water bird".  Students needed to explain why the bird had certain features, and why those features helped its survival near the water.

During SS the students are working to wrap up their Northeast presentations. The NE quiz was a great success!

We began to learn about multiplication of unit fractions today.  Please remember that the Reteaching page in your child's math journal has valuable information about the day's lesson.  If your child is having difficulty, please use this page as a guide.  Students also learned a new math game, Spiral, and everyone brought home cards, dice and game pieces. Please encourage your child to play this game, to practice facts.

We learned about Chinese New Year this week!
