SNOW DAY!
What an exciting morning, to hear we have a snow day! I hope that you get outside to play in the snow! If you do something fun today, (inside or out), send me a photo and we will post on the blog. I can't wait to hear about all you do to keep busy!
I know many of you were looking forward to our end of week meeting. I would still love to hear your "High, Low, Betcha' Didn't Knows". If you would like to share, fill out this survey. I will hold off on the WOW note, and 2 of you will get one next week !
Our week has been awesome! With Mrs. Williams' class, we had a chance to Skype with fourth graders from New Hampshire. What a great way to continue to practice our map skills and a tie in to our Northeast Study!
We worked on presentations about the NE, too, and had the opportunity to present these as "experts" yesterday. Remember we have our NE test on Tuesday.
Students have risen to the challenge of fractions. This concept can be challenging, but everyone is working hard to do their best. There are a few fraction games here to use for a fun way to practice fractions. We will have a quiz on Friday about the concepts we have learned so far.
Our essays are progressing nicely. Students have written wonderful thesis statements!
In reading, we have two more chapters to finish in Snow Treasure. We left Peter after he threw a snowball at a German soldier, and ran! What a cliffhanger! Next week, we will also participate in a few snow themed engineering projects, as a wrap up to this Interactive Read Aloud.
Next week, we will continue to celebrate Black History Month through literature. We will read and discuss works of many African American authors.
Our Community Meeting this month will focus on kindness (Mrs. Merten's favorite). Students and teachers are encouraged to perform a random act of kindness, and to share it on the papers provided. We are working to fill a bucket in the lobby!
