Our Week In Review

We have been working hard in room 24, and we enjoyed a great week!

During reading, we have continued to read myths, and to discuss allusions in mythology. The students have enjoyed this!  This week we will learn about the structure of plays, then read and perform myth plays with Mrs. Williams' class.

On Wednesday we celebrated Read Across America Day!  Do you see some of your favorite book characters?

Annabeth Chase (Percy Jackson Series), Katniss Everdeen (Hunger Games Series), and Hermione Granger (Harry Potter Series)

Our essays will be finished on Monday!  Once these have been finished, we will be working on writing in response to reading this week.  In the next few weeks we will begin to write non-fiction pieces.

We have made the connection between fractions and decimals, and although this is a new subject, the students are working really hard!  We will have an assessment on 3/11. A study guide will be sent home.

Students have done a great job with researching Washington, D.C. monuments!  We have practiced reading a bit of text and pulling out the important facts in our own words.  Students spent 2 afternoons researching in books, and 2 using the websites from our blog. (Sites can be found under curriculum links).  Everyone has started a "Sources Used" page, which can be found in their Google folder. Students have to finish researching if necessary, and finish the rest of the project at home.

Here we are using books to research in teams ~

We continue to learn about wind and clouds in science.

On Fridays, we wrap up our week with an end of week meeting.  During our time, we share our feelings about the week.  This week, we shared our "high" of the week and created this web.  This time in our week is used to celebrate our successes.  Your child can share more about this time.

Our third term wraps up this week.  As part of our term wrap up, I invite parents to share their feelings about their child using this survey.  Thank you!
