Our Week In Review

It was another busy week in room 24, filled with performances and projects!  The children handled the project and test preparation wonderfully!  On Wednesday we were joined by a former Kennedy school student, Miss Kinney.  She is studying to become a teacher, and enjoyed her day with us.  Miss Kinney even had Mrs. Merten in fourth grade!  She was a good sport wearing the Medusa wig!

The students' Washington, D.C. booklets came out beautifully! We enjoyed looking at one another's work and complimenting each other.

We wrapped up our Mythology unit this week. We learned a few more allusions (Trojan Horse was one), and then we performed Greek plays with students from Mrs. Williams' room!  What a great way to wrap up our unit, and to practice our public speaking!  Thanks to Mrs. Bodkins for bringing in this fabulous Medusa Hat!

In math we wrapped up our study of fractions and decimals with some group problem solving.  The children did a great job on their test today!  We will begin our next math unit (Measurement) on Monday, and will start our new math groups on Tuesday. This unit will wrap up with a really fun, whole grade event!

In science we finished up our study of wind and clouds.  We created cloud diagrams to help us understand the different types of clouds.

We are ALMOST finished with our weather unit!  We will learn about storms and wild weather and about the jet stream. In a few weeks, we will have a meteorologist visit us to discuss her career.  You may have seen her on channel 4 news!

Next week we will begin our next interactive read aloud.  The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate is always a favorite!
