Our Week in Review

Well, spring hasn't arrived, yet :).  We had a great week, and have enjoyed the warm weather.  Our fingers are crossed that the meteorologists are wrong, and that we don't have snow next week!

We started many new units this week!  In math, we began learning about measurement.  We will learn about measuring distance, capacity and weight in both customary and metric units.  We started learning about the Southeast Region of the U.S. as well.

We are so excited to be reading our next interactive read aloud, The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. We started with reading an article about owning wild animals.  We had an interesting debate about our feelings!

This week we were treated to another visit from Mrs. Silvia of Brown University's Haffenreffer Museum.  She taught us about the Plains Indians. We even had the chance to participate in an authentic Native American drum circle.  Your child should have a lot to share about this!  We are thankful to our PCC for funding this awesome opportunity!

Our speeches were a great success! The students are doing a great job speaking in front of the class.  It's not easy! (but it is worth it!)
