Our Week In Review
We began our week with our fourth grade meeting. We received a mysterious package from A.Drake, Antarctica! Inside the package were some penguins and our next Interactive Read Aloud, Mr.Popper's Penguins. We will begin reading this book on Monday. During reading this week we continued to share the books we love through book talks. We have continued to practice our reading routines (both at school and at home) this week, and will continue to focus on these routines next week.
On Wednesday we had our Puff Mobile Race! During this project, we learned a lot about the engineering process, as well as team work and collaboration. We enjoyed this engineering project!
We have been working on editing strategies in writing, and each writer created his/her own "COPS" card. This is a great strategy for students to use when completing any type of writing.
Today we had our first Virtual Field Trip. We traveled to the Arctic Circle and Antarctica! It was many students' "High of the Week".
We have wrapped up our new learning for our Maps and Globes unit. We worked to find exact location today. We will work on this more on Monday in preparation for our assessment on Tuesday. Students have a study guide, and can use the Quizlet for vocabulary studying.
In math, we have been working on basic multiplication and division strategies, along with the properties of multiplication. There will be a math test on Thursday. A study guide was sent home on Thursday. Keep studying those math facts!
We have finished writing paragraphs about how we got our name, and will be starting to write fiction stories in writer's workshop. We have finished list poems and will be starting Haiku poetry during Poetry workshop.
In PBL workshop with Mrs. E, the students are working on treasure maps. Creative Arts Friday continues to be a favorite among fourth graders.
