Our Week In Review

We had a very busy week in room 24! On Monday morning we were treated to a visit from a member of the Harlem Wizards.  He was at JFK to share information about the basketball game on November 16th. Information can be found on the Franklin Education Foundation Facebook page.

This week we wrapped up our unit on Map Skills, and the students took their first assessment on Tuesday. It was evident that many of the students studied and it showed on their tests.  Students should be able to share their assessment with families via Google Classroom.

We practiced for our test by playing "Ring that Bell" with Mrs. A. Williams' class.  Mrs. Williams read many of the questions from the test, and students were able to hear the questions and respond.  Ask your child about this fun review.

During reading, we began our latest Interactive Read Aloud (IRA), Mr. Popper's Penguins.  We are already enjoying the adventures of Mr. Popper and his family!  Ask your child if he/she has given a Book Talk during reading.  This is a great way to practice public speaking and share the books we love! As a reminder, students should be reading for a minimum of 15 minutes nightly, and they should be reading the same book at school and at home.

We reviewed our math unit on Wednesday with various centers, and students took their math assessment on Thursday.  Grades will be returned early next week.  We began our next math unit on Patterning on Friday.
