Happy New Year!

We were greeted with snow for our first day back.  The children were very excited about this and thoughts of sledding and snow days were in everyone's minds.

This morning, we reviewed fractions in math centers.  As groups we created fractions on number lines and on posters.  Homework tonight is to use what we learned today to create an individual fraction poster.

In Social  Studies we learned about the geography, climate and national resources of Canada.  At the end of our lesson, students were treated to a rendition of  "Oh! Canada" sung by Mrs. Williams and Mrs. Merten (no video available).  Students can earn extra credit (10 POINTS on the test) by singing the Canadian National Anthem by heart on the test day.  Below is a video of the National Anthem with the lyrics if you want to give it a try.  Students have about two weeks before our test!

Reading logs were sent home before vacation.  These will be due next Friday, with the expectation that they will contain some reading from vacation as well as tonight and next week.  Good luck in the snow!
