Our Week In Review

What a week!

We began our week with a new math unit about Patterns.  This is a short unit, and much of the learning is an extension of previous years.  We have our quiz on this unit on Wednesday.

We also started a new unit in Social Studies. We are learning about the country of Mexico.  We learned a little about el dio de los muertos (The Day of the Dead), and about the Mexican flag.  We will continue learning about Mexico for a few weeks.

Our field trip to the library was awesome! We learned all about the architecture and history of the library, and we LOVED checking out books.  What a wonderful resource we have right here in Franklin!

Learning about the architecture of the library!

So excited to ride the bus with our friends!

We finished reading Mr. Popper's Penguins this week, and we enjoyed a fun-filled book celebration today.  Black and White Day was a HUGE success.

We began our day with Penguin and Halloween Math.

Then we joined Mrs. Williams's class to play "Win, Lose, or Draw" with words from Mr. Popper's Penguins.  We had a great time playing against our friends.  We were all surprised that the game ended in a tie!

Macklin's drawing of a barber!

While snacking on our delicious Black and White Snacks, we created a line plot showing the different snacks we had.

We worked on our presentations and continued to write our Halloween Haiku during Poetry/Technology Workshop time.

After taking our vocabulary quiz and our reading assessment, we loved creating Antarctic Art!

We wrapped up our day with our Party in a Bag and the National Geographic film March of the Penguins.  What a fabulous day!
